BASIS Mesa Information Sessions
Our family attended the information session held this past Tuesday evening out at BASIS Mesa. It was great to see a group of caring, concerned and diverse parents show up for this event.
Mrs. Jill McConnell will be the Head of School for BASIS Mesa
She began by introducing herself and sharing that she just moved to the Phoenix area in March of 2013 from Washington D.C.
Previously she was the Acting School Director at BASIS DC.
While Jill described the blank slate of dirt that laid in front of her the first time she visited the school site on March 17th, it made me understand how dedicated BASIS is to open the Mesa campus located at Ellsworth and Ray Rd in the Southeast Valley. See photo gallery.

Recent Communications to BASIS Mesa Families and Friends,
Now that Eastmark is open, more families are finding out about BASIS Mesa. If you know someone who would like to learn more about the history, culture, and curriculum of BASIS, please urge them to attend our up-coming Information Sessions. Eastmark has graciously allowed us to hold our June 18th Information Session in their beautiful new Community Center.

BOSS
Frequently Asked Questions
What does BOSS stand for?
Boss stands for BASIS Organizational Skills for Success.
What will my child be doing?
Each day of the week (Monday – Thursday) your student will be learning some of the most important skills a student can have. Skills such as time management, organization, effective study strategies, and so much more.
How will this benefit my child?
BOSS helps each student focus on himself or herself as an individual learner. The more efficient and organized our students are, the more time they have to focus on the content. We believe in teaching not only content, but also the skills conducive to learning. Additionally, some students enjoy making friends and meeting BASIS teachers before the first day of school.
Will my child be unsuccessful if he/she does not participate in BOSS?
Absolutely not. The skills that your student learns in BOSS are skills all students should have, and will be reinforced by our teachers throughout the year. The benefit of the BOSS program is that it gives the student the opportunity to learn them prior to starting the year.
How much is BOSS? The BOSS program is $200.00. This can be paid by cash or check, and we can also set up a payment plan.
I designated my payment as a Tax-Credit, how does this work?
The State of Arizona allows families to receive a tax-credit for payments towards extra-curricular activities. The allowable credit is $200 per calendar year for an individual, and $400 for a couple filing jointly. The AZ State Tax-Credit is not a deduction, but in fact is a dollar for dollar credit on your AZ income taxes. We will issue a receipt towards the end of the calendar year with all the necessary information to take to your tax accountant.
For more information on the Tax Credit, please visit the following link:

Where and When? It will be held at BASIS Chandler July 15 – July 18th, from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
